Washington, DC is looking to change the name of Pennsylvania Ave. to reflect the district’s struggle for statehood. I don’t really see how changing the President’s address to “1600 Give D.C. Statehood Avenue” will produce the desired affect, but go for it DC Council. You’ve already accomplished everything else.
According to Washington City Paper, “Paul Strauss, the District’s shadow senator, said any change must be easily understandable for visitors who don’t already know the city’s plight. He recalled often meeting tourists who believe D.C. license plates reading ‘Taxation Without Representation’ are merely a patriotic reference to America’s independence.”
